Mention in the Book Abraham; He was truthful and a Prophet. 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 Father, there has come to me knowledge such as came not to thee; so follow me, and I will guide thee on a level path. 43 "O my father! Worship not Shaitan (Satan). Verily! Shaitan (Satan) has been a rebel against the Most Beneficent (Allah). 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely before I punish you." 46 He said: Peace be on you, I will pray to my Lord to forgive you; surely He is ever Affectionate to me: 47 "And I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah. And I shall call on my Lord; and I hope that I shall not be unblest in my invocation to my Lord." 48 So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. 49 And We gave them of Our Mercy (a good provision in plenty), and We granted them honour on the tongues (of all the nations, i.e. everybody remembers them with a good praise). 50
