The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And the moon when she followeth him, 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)! 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
