Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In high empyrean 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
