'Lord' said Moses, 'expand my chest, 25 'and do Thou ease for me my task. 26 and loosen the knot from my tongue 27 so that they might fully understand my speech, 28 Appoint for me a henchman from my folk, 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 Strengthen my back by him, 31 and associate him with me in my task. 32 so that we exalt You 33 and remember You abundantly. 34 Surely You know us well." 35 [Allah] said, "You have been granted your request, O Moses. 36 And certainly We bestowed on you a favor at another time; 37 "Behold! We sent to thy mother, by inspiration, the message: 38 Saying: Put him into a chest, then cast it down into the river, then the river shall throw him on the shore; there shall take him up one who is an enemy to Me and enemy to him, and I cast down upon you love from Me, and that you might be brought up before My eyes; 39 "When your sister went and said: 'Shall I show you one who will nurse him?' So We restored you to your mother, that she might cool her eyes and she should not grieve. Then you did kill a man, but We saved you from great distress and tried you with a heavy trial. Then you stayed a number of years with the people of Madyan (Midian). Then you came here according to the fixed term which I ordained (for you), O Musa (Moses)! 40 for I have chosen thee for Mine Own service. 41 Go, you and your brother, with My signs and do not slacken in My remembrance. 42 go forth, both of you, unto Pharaoh: for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of equity! 43 Then speak to him a gentle word haply he may mind or fear. 44 They said: Our Lord! Lo! we fear that he may be beforehand with us or that he may play the tyrant. 45 The Lord replied them, "Do not be afraid; I Am with you all the time, listening and seeing." 46 So go you both to Pharaoh, and say, "We are the Messengers of thy Lord, so send forth with us the Children of Israel and chastise them not; we have brought thee a sign from thy Lord; and peace be upon him who follows the guidance! 47 "'Verily it has been revealed to us that the Penalty (awaits) those who reject and turn away.'" 48 Pharaoh said, 'Who is your Lord, Moses?' 49 He replied: "Our Sustainer is He who gives unto every thing [that exists] its true nature and form, and thereupon guides it [towards its fulfilment]. 50 (The Pharaoh) said: "And what about the former generations?" 51 He replied: "The knowledge of that is with my Lord, duly recorded: my Lord never errs, nor forgets,- 52 He it is Who spread the earth for you; and made in it paths for you, and sent down water from the sky, and then through it We brought forth many species of diverse plants. 53 so eat and graze your cattle. In this there are signs for men of understanding. 54
