The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
