The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it, but do not take it seriously; 2 their hearts are diverted. The harmdoers mutter to one another: 'Is this anything else but a human like yourself? What, will you follow sorcery with your eyes open' 3 He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Of the villages We destroyed, there was not one that believed. What, will they not believe? 6 And We did not send (Prophets) before you except men, to whom We sent divine revelations – therefore, O people, ask the people of knowledge if you do not know. 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 In the end, We made good unto them Our promise, and We saved them and all whom We willed [to save,] and We destroyed those who had wasted their own selves. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
