The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord they barely heed it and remain immersed in play, 2 In sport being their hearts. And those who do wrong keep secret their private discourse this is but a human being like unto yourselves; will ye then betake yourselves to magic while ye know? 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? 6 Before thee, also, the messengers We sent were but men, to whom We granted inspiration: If ye realise this not, ask of those who possess the Message. 7 We had not made them such bodies that would not eat any food nor were they immortal. 8 In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. 9 We have sent a Book, (the Quran), which is an honor for you. Will you then not understand? 10
