The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Closer and closer to mankind comes their Reckoning: yet they heed not and they turn away. 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord they barely heed it and remain immersed in play, 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 Say, "My Lord knows every word spoken in the heavens and on the earth. He is All Hearing, All Knowing." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 (O Muhammad), even before you We never sent any other than human beings as Messengers, and to them We sent revelation. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know. 7 and neither did We endow them with bodies that could dispense with food nor were they immortal. 8 Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals. 9 Now, We have sent down to you a Book in which is your Remembrance. Will you not understand? 10
