1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ Surely We had bestowed wisdom upon Abraham even earlier, and We knew him well. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshipping them. 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said: "Nay, this was done by - this is their biggest one! ask them, if they can speak intelligently!" 63 So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)." 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lot (and brought them) to the land which We have blessed for (all) peoples. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us. 73 And Lut! We vouchsafed unto him judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him out of the city which had been working foul deeds; verily they were a people evil, wicked. 74 whereas him We admitted unto Our grace: for, behold, he was among the righteous. 75
