۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They said: we found our fathers the worshippers thereof. 53 Said he: "Indeed, you and your forefathers have obviously gone astray!" 54 They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?" 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They said: Have you done this to our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 Then were they confounded with shame: (they said), "Thou knowest full well that these (idols) do not speak!" 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 Fie on you and on what you serve besides Allah; what! do you not then understand? 67 They said: burn him, and succour your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 Then they sought a stratagem against him: but We made them the ones that lost most! 70 So We delivered him and Lot, and brought them to the land We had blessed for all the people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
