۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 Behold! he said to his father and his people, "What are these images, to which ye are (so assiduously) devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said, "Indeed ye have been in manifest error - ye and your fathers." 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 I swear by God I will do something to your idols when you have turned your backs and gone." 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said: But this, their chief hath done it. So question them, if they can speak. 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 And We took him into Our mercy; surely he was of the good. 75
