In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? 1 Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; 7 they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
