And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 And were ye to obey a human being like you, ye are forthwith to be losers. 34 Does he promise you that after you die and become dust and bones you will be brought back to life again? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 He said: 'Help me, Lord, they belie me' 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 And the Cry seized them in justice and We made them withered. So begone with the harmdoing nation. 41 Then We raised up other generations after them, 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then sent We our messengers in succession: every time there came to a people their messenger, they accused him of falsehood: so We made them follow each other (in punishment): We made them as a tale (that is told): So away with a people that will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a miracle and settled them on a high land, quite secure and watered by a spring. 50
