[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you of your wives? Nay, you are a people exceeding limits. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said, 'Truly I am a detester of what you do. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 Thereupon We saved him and all his household 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
