And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said, "In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 who created me. It is He who guides me; 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 "And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity." 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
