O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 Your nation is but one nation, and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me. 52 Yet they divided themselves into factions, each rejoicing in what they had. 53 So leave them in their intoxication till a time. 54 Do they think that because We have granted them abundance of wealth and sons, 55 We would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand. 56 Surely those who live in awe of their Lord, 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 And those who join not anyone (in worship) as partners with their Lord; 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 These people hasten to perform goodness, and it is they who shall reach it first. 61 We do not lay a burden on anyone beyond his capacity. We have a Book with Us that speaks the truth (about everyone); and they shall in no wise be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing; 63 But then when We seize the affluent among them, they will cry out for help. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 My Signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight, 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Is it then that they do not ponder over what is said, or is it that there has come to them that which did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or do they not recognize their Messenger, and so deny him? 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 Had truth been subject to their whims the heavens and the earth and all those within them would have been depraved. In fact We had sent them their reminder, but they turned away from good advice. 71 (Do they disbelieve because) you asked them for payment? The reward that you will receive from your Lord is the best. He is the best Provider. 72 And indeed, you invite them to a straight path. 73 And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path. 74 ۞ And even were We to show them mercy and remove whatever distress might befall them [in this life,] they would still persist in their overweening arrogance, blindly stumbling to and fro. 75 And indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not abase themselves before their Sustainer; and they will never humble themselves 76 when We opened on them a gate of severe punishment, they utterly despaired. 77
