I told them, "Messengers, eat from the pure things and act righteously; I know all that you do. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 So leave them in their confusion for a time. 54 Do they think that what We extend to them of wealth and children 55 We are hastening to reward them for good deeds? No. They do not comprehend. 56 Those who tremble in fear of their Lord, 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 and who give whatever they [have to] give with their hearts trembling at the thought that unto their Sustainer they must return: 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 We charge no soul with more than it can bear. We have a record which clearly shows the truth and they will not be wronged. 62 But their hearts are in ignorance of this (Koran); and they have deeds besides that which they are doing. 63 Until when We seize their affluent ones with punishment, at once they are crying [to Allah] for help. 64 (It will be said): "Groan not in supplication this day: for ye shall certainly not be helped by Us. 65 Indeed My Verses used to be recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels (denying them, and with hatred to listen to them). 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or, is it because they do not recognize their Messenger that they denied him? 69 Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. 70 If the Truth had been in accord with their desires, truly the heavens and the earth, and all beings therein would have been in confusion and corruption! Nay, We have sent them their admonition, but they turn away from their admonition. 71 Do you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) ask any fee from them? So the reward of your Lord is the best; and He is the Best Provider of Sustenance. 72 And lo! thou summonest them indeed unto a straight path. 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of severe punishment, then lo! They will be plunged into destruction with deep regrets, sorrows and in despair. 77
