Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 Rise to pray in the night except a little, 2 A half of it or a little less 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Indeed We shall soon ordain a heavy responsibility upon you. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Surely We have sent unto you a Messenger as a witness over you, even as We sent to Pharaoh a Messenger, 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
