And assuredly We delivered the Children of Isra'il from an ignominous torment 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba, and those who had lived before them, whom We destroyed as they were sinners? 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, 41 except those to whom Allah shows mercy. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Compassionate. 42
