O ye messengers! enjoy (all) things good and pure, and work righteousness: for I am well-acquainted with (all) that ye do. 51 And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me." 52 Then they cut their affair among them in regard to the Scriptures; each band in that which is with them rejoicing. 53 So leave them in their bewilderment for a while. 54 Do they think that We enlarge them in wealth and children, 55 We hasten unto them with good things? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Verily, [only] they who stand in reverent awe of their Sustainer, 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who associate none with their Lord in His Divinity, 59 And those who give whatsoever they give, while their hearts are anxious that unto their Lord they are to be returners. 60 It is these who race for the good deeds, and they are foremost in them [e.g. offering the compulsory Salat (prayers) in their (early) stated, fixed times and so on]. 61 And We charge no soul except [with that within] its capacity, and with Us is a record which speaks with truth; and they will not be wronged. 62 Aye! their hearts are in bewilderment in respect thereof, and they have works beside that, of which they are workers. 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 Invoke not loudly this day! Certainly, you shall not be helped by Us. 65 My communications were indeed recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels, 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Why did they not think over the message? Or has something come to them which had not come to their fathers? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 And verily, thou callest them onto a straight way 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ If We had mercy on them and removed the distress which is on them, they would obstinately persist in their transgression, wandering in distraction to and fro. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 when We opened on them a gate of severe punishment, they utterly despaired. 77
