Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 “I feel hesitant, and my tongue does not speak fast, therefore make Haroon also a Noble Messenger.” 13 "And they have a charge of crime against me, and I fear they will kill me." 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 (Firon) said: Did we not bring you up as a child among us, and you tarried among us for (many) years of your life? 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 He said: I did it then when I was mistaken. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 "And this is the past favour with which you reproach me, that you have enslaved the Children of Israel." 22 Pharaoh said: 'And what is the Lord of the Worlds' 23 Moses said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if only you would be convinced." 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 He said: your Lord and the Lord of your ancient fathers. 26 Fir'awn said: verily your apostle who hath been sent unto you is mad. 27 He said: The Lord of the east and the west and what is between them, if you understand. 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 Moses asked, "What if I were to bring you clear proof (of the existence of God)?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 Moses threw his staff and suddenly it became a serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it looked white to the beholders. 33
