The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
