And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 the nation of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Me' 11 He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, 12 I feel nervous and my tongue is not fluent, so send Aaron with me. 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 Fir'awn said: brought we not thee up amongst us as a child? And thou tarriedst amongst us for many years of thy life? 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 Replied [Moses]: "I committed it while I was still going astray; 20 so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 Firon said: And what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 Moses replied, "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you want to be certain". 24 (Firon) said to those around him: Do you not hear? 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 Moses said, "He is the Lord of the East and the West, and all that lies between them, if only you could understand." 28 Said [Pharaoh]: "Indeed, if thou choose to worship any deity other than me, I shall most certainly throw thee into prison! 29 Musa (Moses) said: "Even if I bring you something manifest (and convincing)?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
