And recall what time thy Lord called unto Musa, saying: go thou unto the wrong-doing people. 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 My breast is constricted and my tongue is not fluent, so endow Messengership on Aaron. 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: 16 Then send with us the children of Israel. 17 Pharaoh said: "Did we not bring you up among us when you were a child? 18 And yet thou didst commit that [heinous] deed of thine, and [hast thus shown that] thou art one of the ingrate!" 19 He said: I did it then, when I was of those who are astray. 20 so I fled from you, fearing you. But my Lord gave me Judgment and made me one of the Envoys. 21 And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 He said, 'The Lord of the heavens and earth, and what between them is, if you have faith.' 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 [But Moses] went on: "[He of whom I speak is] the Sustainer of the east and the west and of all that is between the two - as you would know]" if you would but use your reason!" 28 Said Firaun, “If you ascribe any one else as a God other than me, I will surely imprison you.” 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 The Pharaoh replied, "Bring it, if you are telling the truth." 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew out his hand, and behold, it was white to all beholders! 33
