And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 Only the sinful ones made us go astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
