And recite unto them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
