And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 He who cures me when I am ill; 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 no caring friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
