And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
