And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 When Paradise shall be brought near to the God-fearing 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
