And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said, “Do they hear you when you call?” 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no caring friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
