The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 gardens, and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 And we are not to be punished." 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
