Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Have fear of Him Who has provided you with all the (good) things you know; 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 And gardens and fountains; 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
