Ad cried lies to the Envoys 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Build ye on every high place a monument for vain delight? 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said, 'Alike it is to us, whether thou admonishest, or art not one of the admonishers; 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
