The people of Lot denied the messengers 160 when their brother Lot said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 161 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 What, do you come to male beings, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said, “I am disgusted with your works.” 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except an old woman who stayed behind, 171 then We destroyed the others, 172 and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 175
