The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
