The people of Lot denied the messengers 160 When their brother Lot said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 so fear you God, and obey you me. 163 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 164 What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males, 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Except an old woman among those who remained behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 by pouring upon them a terrible shower of rain. How evil was the rain for those who had been warned! 173 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 174 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 175
