The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 and weigh with the straight balance, 182 and diminish not the goods of the people, and do not mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 “You are just a human like us, and indeed we consider you a liar.” 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
