The dwellers of the Thicket belied their Messengers. 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no wage for this; my wage is only with the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and cause no loss to others. 181 Weigh your goods with proper balance 182 do not defraud people of what is rightfully theirs; and do not spread corruption in the land. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 He said: My Lord knows best what you do. 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
