The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 When Shu'eyb said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 I ask no recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 weigh with an even balance 182 And defraud not people of their things, and commit not corruption on the earth. 183 Have fear of the One who has created you and the generations that lived before you." 184 They said: thou art but of the bewitched; 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said: "My Lord is the Best Knower of what you do." 188 But they gave him the lie. And thereupon suffering overtook them on a day dark with shadows: and verily, it was the suffering of an awesome day! 189 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
