The dwellers of the thicket gave the lie to the apostles. 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 I do not ask any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure, and be not cheaters, 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 And do not wrong men of their things, and do not act corruptly in the earth, making mischief. 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They said: "You are only one of those bewitched! 185 you are only a mortal like us. Indeed we believe that you are an utter liar. 186 So cause thou a fragment of the heaven to fall upon us, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 But they denied him, and We seized them with the torment of the Day of Shadowing (when the cloud had rained down fire). It was indeed the torment of a terrible day! 189 Verily herein is a sign; but most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
