And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayst be (one) of the warners, 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples. 196 Is it not a Sign to them - (to wit, the Makkans) - that the learned men of the Children of Israel know that? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 And he had read it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe therein until they behold the torment afflictive. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 Then they will say: Shall we be respited? 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Did you consider that if We were to let them enjoy life for many years 205 And then there cometh unto them that which they had been promised. 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 And never did We destroy a township which did not have Heralds of warning, – 208 To warn. For We are never unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 it is not for them, nor are they able. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every great accuser, extreme sinner. (The magicians) 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 See you not that they speak about every subject (praising others right or wrong) in their poetry? 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
