And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds. 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 (a revelation embodied) in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 and had he recited it unto them [in his own tongue,] they would not have believed in it. 199 We have thus caused denial of truth to enter into the hearts of the sinners: 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful torment; 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 Not by the Satans has it been brought down; 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 And spread your wing of mercy for the believers following you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 Put your trust in the Mighty One, the Merciful, 217 who sees thee when thou standest 218 And your movements among those who bow in homage to God. 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend on every lying sinner, 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
