The Ant (Al-Naml)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Ta-Sin. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a Book luminous. 1 it is guidance and good news for the believers 2 Who fulfil their devotional obligations, pay the zakat, and believe with certainty in the life to come. 3 Lo! as for those who believe not in the Hereafter, We have made their works fairseeming unto them so that they are all astray. 4 They will suffer the worst kind of torment and will be lost in the life to come. 5 As to thee, the Qur'an is bestowed upon thee from the presence of one who is wise and all-knowing. 6 (Recount to them) when Moses said to his family: "I perceive something like fire: soon will I bring to you some information from there, or I will bring you a burning brand that you may warm yourselves." 7 So, when he came to it, he was called: 'Blessed is he who is in the fire, and he who is about it. Glory be to God, the Lord of all Being! 8 O Moses, I am that God, the mighty and all-wise. 9 [And then He said:] "Now throw down thy staff!" But when he saw it move rapidly, as if it were a serpent, he drew back [in terror,] and did not [dare to] return. [And God spoke to him again:] O Moses! Fear not - for, behold, no fear need the message-bearers have in My Presence, 10 Otherwise, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil - indeed, I am Forgiving and Merciful. 11 "Now place thy hand into thy bosom: it will come forth [shining] white, without blemish!" [And thou shalt go] with nine [of My] messages unto Pharaoh and his people for, verily, they are people depraved!" 12 But when Our tokens came unto them, plain to see, they said: This is mere magic, 13 And they denied them, though their souls acknowledged them, for spite and arrogance. Then see the nature of the consequence for the wrong-doers! 14
