۞ And assuredly We have caused the Word to reach them in succession, that haply they may be admonished. 51 Those to whom We gave the Book before this believe in it [the Quran], 52 When it is recited to them, they say, "We believe in it. It is the Truth from our Lord. We were Muslims before it was revealed". 53 Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend. 54 When they hear idle talk they turn aside and say: "To us our actions, to you yours. Peace on you; we do not look for the ignorant." 55 (Muhammad), you cannot guide whomever you love, but God guides whomever He wants and knows best those who seek guidance. 56 They say: "If we followed your guidance we would be driven from the land by force." Have We not set up a sanctuary for them, to which is brought a wealth of everything as provision from Us? But most of them do not understand. 57 And how many a town have We destroyed which exulted in its means of subsistence, so these are their abodes, they have not been dwelt in after them except a little, and We are the inheritors, 58 And never did thy Lord destroy the townships, till He had raised up in their mother(-town) a messenger reciting unto them Our revelations. And never did We destroy the townships unless the folk thereof were evil-doers. 59 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life and its adornment; and what is with God is better and more enduring. 60
