The Romans (Al-Room)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq) before The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In the nearer land (Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Palestine), and they, after their defeat, will be victorious. 3 in a few years. All power belongs to Allah both before and after. On that day will the believers rejoice 4 In the help of God. He helps whom He will; He is all-mighty, ever-merciful. 5 (It is) the promise of Allah. Never does Allah depart from His promise: but most men understand not. 6 They know only the outward appearance of the life of the world, and they! of the Hereafter, they are neglecetful. 7 Ponder they not in their minds: Allah hath not created the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain save with a purpose and for a term appointed? And verily many men in the meeting of their Lord are unbelievers. 8 What, have they not journeyed in the land and beheld how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than themselves in might, and they ploughed up the earth and cultivated it more than they themselves have cultivated it; and their Messengers came to them with the clear signs; and God would never wrong them, but themselves they wronged. 9 Evil was the end of those evil-doers, for they gave the lie to Allah's Signs and scoffed at them. 10

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
