Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
AlifLaamMeem. 1 Those are the verses of the Wise Book, 2 Guidance and mercy for the righteous. 3 people who are steadfast in prayer, pay the religious tax, and have firm belief in the life to come. 4 It is they who are on guidance from their Lord, and only they are the successful. 5 And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing, etc.) to mislead (men) from the Path of Allah without knowledge, and takes it (the Path of Allah, the Verses of the Quran) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-fire). 6 When Our revelations are recited to them, they turn back on their heels out of pride as if they did not hear them or their ears had been sealed off. Warn them of the painful torment. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have gardens of bliss, 8 wherein they will abide forever. That is God's true promise; He is the Mighty, the Wise One. 9 He created the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; He set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and He scattered through it beasts of all kinds. We send down rain from the sky, and produce on the earth every kind of noble creature, in pairs. 10 Such is the Creation of Allah: now show Me what is there that others besides Him have created: nay, but the Transgressors are in manifest error. 11
