In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 These are the verses of the sagacious Book, 2 A guidance and a mercy for the doers of goodness, 3 Those who establish the prayer and give the poor-rate and of the Hereafter are convinced. 4 They are on guidance from their Lord, and will prosper. 5 Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement. 6 Whenever Our messages are conveyed to such a person, he turns away in his arrogance, as though he had not heard them -- as though his ears were sealed: give him, then, the tidings of grievous suffering [in the life to come]. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have gardens of bliss, 8 therein to dwell forever -- God's promise in truth; and He is the All-mighty, the All-wise. 9 He created the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; He set on the earth mountains standing firm, lest it should shake with you; and He scattered through it beasts of all kinds. We send down rain from the sky, and produce on the earth every kind of noble creature, in pairs. 10 This is the creation of Allah; shew me that which those beside Him have created. Aye! the wrong-doers are in error manifest. 11
