And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 And We have placed in it gardens of dates and grapes, and We have made springs of water in it. 34 So that they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Holy is He who created all things in pairs; of what the earth grows, and of themselves, and other things which they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night; We strip it of the day and lo, they are in darkness. 37 And [they have a sign in] the sun: it runs in an orbit of its own [and] that is laid down by the will of the Almighty, the All-Knowing; 38 We have determined the stations of the moon, so that (after its wanderings) it returns as a dried up inflorescent spike of dates. 39 Neither is it allowable to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; and all float on in a sphere. 40 And [it ought to be] a sign for them that We bear their offspring [over the seas] in laden ships, 41 And We have created for them the like of it in which they board. 42 We drown them if We will, then they have none to cry to, nor can they be saved, 43 Unless by mercy from Us and as comfort for a while. 44 Whenever they are told to guard themselves against sin and the forth coming torment so that perhaps they could receive mercy 45 None of the signs of their Lord ever comes to them but they turn away from it. 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 And they say: When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful? 48 They await not but one shout, which shall lay hold of them while they are yet wrangling. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
