۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And detain them, for they will be questioned." 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 Indeed, when it was said to them, “There is no God except Allah”, they were haughty. 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 (They will be told): “You shall taste the grievous chastisement. 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Are we then not to die 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its spathes are like the heads of satans 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then most surely they shall have after it to drink of a mixture prepared in boiling water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
