۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 They will turn upon one another, and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Surely thus do We deal with the guilty. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 one of them will say, "I had a friend, 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 He will ask his companion, "Did you not say that there would only be one death 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Lo! this is the supreme triumph. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 They found their fathers had gone astray; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see the nature of the consequence for those warned, 73 Not so the chosen servants of God. 74
